On Stage Gear, owned and operated by Fred Brumbach, has been in Business for 34 years. Fred has worked with many  groups and in many prominent venues both in Virginia and North Carolina.

He founded Backstage, Inc. in 1977 in Richmond, Va. His clients were varied including corporate, festivals, special events, and symphonies.

He started OSG in 1989 as a backline company to support the concerts where Backstage was providing sound. He sold his interest in Backstage in 1995 and moved to Manteo, NC, The Outer Banks where he continued with his backline business.

In 2003 he purchased a Nexo Geo sound system, digital consoles, a huge selection of high end microphones and began working once again for symphony and other national acts.

In 2012 he sold the lighting, video, and backline portion of his business to concentrate mainly on sound reinforcement. Providing sound for the North Carolina Symphony since 2003, and the Fayetteville Symphony since 2012. 

As of July 3,2022, Fred decided it was time to retire and concentrate his time on his topiary gardens in Manteo, NC. Most of his equipment and especially his large selection of microphones were sold to S&S Productions, his friends Cory Sprenkle and Sonny Smith in Va Beach, Va.

Fred is still available for consultation given his expansive knowledge of technical theatre, lighting, and sound.
